A collector's shortlist.
Curated picks, not crowd scores — and the cleanest way to buy what you find.
247 Album Verdict is the work of a lifelong record collector — one set of ears, not a crowd. Where sites like RateYourMusic and Album of the Year aggregate thousands of user scores, we do the opposite: a focused, edited shortlist chosen on merit — influence, craft, and how well a record holds up on repeat listens.
There's no community to wade through and no comment wars. Rankings are one collector's editorial opinion, offered as a starting point rather than a final word, and we never publish fake review scores or invented listening tests.
How we choose
Every record here has been listened to, not just looked up. A title earns its place on three things: whether it still rewards close listening years later, what it changed or influenced, and how cohesive it is start to finish rather than a single hit padded out. We favour the album a newcomer should actually start with over the one that merely sold the most, and we'd rather run a short, confident list than a long, hedged one.
We don't take payment for placement, and nothing on a list can be bought. The buying links exist only so that, once you've found something worth owning, getting a copy is one click away.
Affiliate disclosure
When you follow a "find it on vinyl" or "on CD" link, you're sent to an Amazon search for that title. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases, at no extra cost to you. It never affects which records make the list.
